Distribution of Level Ice Draft in the Near-Pole Area of the Arctic Basin at the Beginning of the Fall Season

Empirical distributions of the draft of level ice of different age in the near-pole area of the Arctic Basin were calculated for the beginning of the fall season. The empirical distributions were approximated by analytical expressions. The average values of the draft of level second-year and multiyear ice were obtained. The variability of the average draft of level ice under the influence of thermal and dynamic factors is shown for several years from 1988 to 1998.
