STUDY OF EFFECTS OF BAROCLINIC 15-LEVEL MODEL PARAMETERS ON VORTEX INTERACTION
A. E. Pokhil
Results are presented of numerical experiments with a pair of interacting vortices, using an updated version of a baroclinic model with high vertical (15 levels) and horizontal (50 km) resolutions. Effects of the model parameters on vortex interaction are studied. Features of three-dimensional vortex interaction are determined. Dependences are studied of changes, during the numerical integrating, in relative rotation rate of the vortices and in a relative distance between their centers on the vortex structure, on the type of heating function which parametrizes the heat influx in a real tropical cyclone, on friction between the atmospheric layers, parametrizing vertical mixing due to intense cumulus convection, and on friction at the upper and lower computational levels.
