LONG-TERM VARIABILITY OF THE HEAT CONTENT OF THE BAROCLINIC LAYER IN THE NORTHEASTERN PACIFIC IN THE CALIFORNIA CURRENT

A. D. Nelezin and V. G. Kuzlyakin

The variability of the water heat content in the layer 0—1000 m in the northeastern Pacific is analyzed based on long-term observations. Seasonal means calculated for the 1950—1987 period allowed us to establish the prevailing tendencies in long-term variations of the thermal water structure. The trend components and a long-term component of temporal variations are determined. The 19- and 5—6-year periods of basic changes in the water heat content of the California Current were singled out based on the analysis of the results obtained.
