THE ADAPTATION OF AGRICULTURE TO POSSIBLE CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE CENTRAL REGION OF RUSSIA

V. A. Zhukov and O. A. Svyatkina

A stochastic simulation method is used to study the behavior of a climate—crop system in the Oka River basin with respect to expected global climate change. Probabilistic characteristics of adverse weather conditions are given, and a crop loss resulted from that under conditions of the changing climate of the region is estimated. A problem of adaptation of agriculture in this region to the expected climate change is solved by means of optimization of the area structure under crops.
