K. A. Klevannyi, A. M. Kolesov, and M.-S. V. Mostamandi
In August 2011, the St. Petersburg Flood Prevention Facility Complex (PFC) started operating. The forecast of floods and optimum time of the closing and opening of waterways and navigation openings is needed for its operation. One of the forecast methods used in the operational practice of the Northwestern Administration for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring is the hydrodynamic modeling. Considered are the different aspects of the use of the CARDINAL software package for predicting the floods which occurred after the start of the operation of PFC (taking account of the closing of PFC for the period of floods).
