AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF SEA-ICE GROWTH AND MELTING

Results of the study of variability of the thickness of young sea ice in the period of winter growth depending on various hydrometeorological factors are presented and analyzed. Quantitative characteristics are given for ice-cover melting which are obtained by synchronous and continuous temperature measurements at several horizons in the ice in the near-ice water layer, for the heat amount coming to the ice from the atmosphere, and for ice-thickness changes due to melting from above and below.
