NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF ACTION ON THE PROCESS OF PRECIPITATION FORMATION IN CONVECTIVE CLOUDS BY SEEDING WITH HYGROSCOPIC AEROSOLS

On the basis of a Lagrangian model, a series of numerical experiments concerning certain aspects of action on the precipitation formation in a warm convective cloud by introducing fine-dispersed hygroscopic particles. During the last decade, this method of cloud modification attracts much attention, after successful experiments in the Republic of South Africa. A number of studies in numerical simulation of the process are carried out with models of different complexity. In the paper, the results are presented for numerical experiments on determination of some optimum parameters of seeding. The optimum type of cloud and size of the particles introduced coincide with those of other models. The optimum height of introduction of the reagent differs from that obtained in the two-dimensional model that includes more processes but has lower space and time resolutions. The contradiction that arises is discussed.
