THE INFLUENCE OF SMOKE HAZE ON ATMOSPHERIC TRANSPARENCY, SOLAR RADIATION, AND NATURAL ILLUMINANCE IN MOSCOW IN 2002

G. M. Abakumova, E. V. Gorbarenko, E. I. Nezval, and O. A. Shilovtseva

Described are the results of comparative analysis of weather in the summer of 1972 and 2002, when the Moscow region experienced severe fires that produced heavy smoke pollution of the air in Moscow. Changes in atmospheric transparency, spectral composition of the incoming solar radiation, and terrestrial surface illuminance during smoke haze are considered using surface observations at the Meteorological Observatory of Moscow State University.
