WATER GENESIS AND RUNOFF OF THE LENA RIVER IN DRY AND WET YEARS

V. I. Babkin and A. N. Postnikov

Atmospheric precipitation in the Lena River basin is identified according to zones of cyclone origin. It is shown that the Lena runoff is mostly formed by local cyclonic precipitation (72% in dry years and 78% in wet years). In a transition from dry to wet years, 80% of the increase in the Lena runoff is due to precipitation from cyclones formed in the Lena basin.
