DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION FOR CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD TOP HEIGHT

B. A. Kamalov, Kh. A. Imamdzhanov, and O. B. Sattorov

It is shown that the distribution of convective cloud top height Htop in July is single-modal and well described by Gram—Charlier curves, while in other spring and summer months it is bimodal. The first mode, corresponding to Htop = 8–9 km<%0>, dominates. The second mode corresponds to 10—11 km. The first mode being fitted by the normal distribution, the second agrees well with the Pearson curves of first type. The second mode is probably associated with large-scale vertical motions.
