AN ANALYTICAL MODEL OF A STABLY STRATIFIED ATMOSPHERIC SURFACE LAYER WITH VOLUME COOLING

L. Kh. Ingel

A simple stationary analytical model of the atmospheric surface layer with stable stratification is presented. The model is based upon the semi-empirical theory of turbulence and describes nonlinear interaction of velocity, temperature, and humidity fields through their effects on turbulent exchange. It allows including volume cooling of the air and thus can be applied to description of situations typical, for example, of night radiation fogs. It is shown that solutions of the model equations give a qualitatively correct description of the major interactions of these fields.
