CHANGES IN MOSCOW CLIMATE FROM 1879 TO 2002 IN TERMS OF TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION EXTREMES

V. V. Oganesyan

Results of analysis of temporal variability of daily air temperature and daily precipitation amounts in Moscow for 1879—2002 are considered. The results allow us to calculate the Moscow climate changes. Accordingly, the most variable characteristic is the annual amplitude of extreme values of daily temperature. Its values decreased from 67 to 54ºC, i.e., by 13ºC, mainly due to decreased extreme values in winter. The frequency of seasonal extremes of daily minimum and maximum temperature also decreased. The intensity and frequency of daily precipitation extremes increased. These changes indicate that Moscow climate, according to the estimates of extreme values, is becoming more moderate and humid.
