SIMULATION OF SURFACE AIR TEMPERATURE AND ITS VARIABILITY

K. G. Rubinshtein, V. V. Oganesyan, and N. V. Grachev

Mean surface air temperatures from two versions of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center's model are compared with observational data and with results of foreign models. Reanalysis surface air temperatures are compared with climatic data. It is shown that reanalysis can be used as a reference in comparison of the model data. Experiments with a doubling of CO2 have shown that this forcing does not lead to noticeable changes in surface air temperature variability. It is shown that the version of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center's model with a resolution of about 2.5º simulates the surface air temperature and its variability not worse than the best foreign models.
