THE PROBLEM OF SETTING UP STANDARDS FOR DISCHARGE OF CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES FROM WATERSHED AREAS

G. M. Chernogaeva, V. N. Kuz'mich, and S. V. Berdnikov

An approach is offered for setting up standards for an anthropogenic load on water bodies and their watersheds. A notion of permissible chemical load is introduced. It is demonstrated that its magnitude depends on the variability of the discharge of chemical substances from watersheds. The algorithm for calculating permissible loading of chemical substances is suggested. It is based on of monitoring data. The standard for permissible anthropogenic load of chemical substances is formulated in terms of probability that the water quality meets the existing standards. An example of calculation for the Kundryuchya River basin (the Severskii Donets tributary) is considered.
