SEASONAL VARIATIONS OF WATER CIRCULATIONS IN THE COASTAL REGIONS OF SAKHALIN

V. M. Pishchalnik, V. S. Arkhipkin, G. I. Yurasov, and S. S. Ermolenko

A linear quasi-geostrophic diagnostic model is used to calculate seasonal variations of water circulation in the coastal regions of Sakhalin in the ice-free period from averaged data of long-term hydrological observations. Detailed patterns of currents are obtained, which refine the well-known circulation patterns and give insight into some features of the water exchange between the Okhotsk and Japan sea basins.
