INTERNAL AND FORCED VARIABILITY OF THE ATMOSPHERE—UNDERLYING SURFACE SYSTEM FROM NUMERICAL MODELING DATA
A. I. Degtyarev
A series of numerical experiments with a global T21L15 general circulation model have been performed to study the interannual variability of atmospheric circulation processes. The variability of atmospheric processes is divided into internal, determined by the thermodynamic development of atmospheric circulation, and forced variability, which is caused by external factors. In the experiments, an external factor is the actual sea surface temperature changes. The geographic distribution of the internal and forced variability is analyzed for model sea-level pressure fields, 500-hPa geopotential, and the 200-hPa wind velocity modulus.
