AEROSOL CLIMATE IN THE MOSCOW SUBURB

V. V. Smirnov

Results of multiyear measurements of aerosol particle concentration and standard meteorological observations carried out at several sites at a distance up to 800 km from Moscow are dealt with. The modern aerosol climate of the Moscow suburb, which is understood as a physical and statistical description of the surface atmosphere aerosol component, is estimated. Fluxes and the content of suspended solid particles of all sizes are compared in the winter- and summertime and at different times of the day. The studies of these data provide principally new possibilities for identifying a pre-history of the atmospheric aerosol, taking into account the factors that stimulate the formation of new particles. The purification capacity of the Moscow suburb can be considered substantial, as about 10,000—20,000 t/year of the aerosol mass emitted from the Moscow suburb to the air basin is equal to total emissions from the territory of the Moscow suburb hundreds of times greater than the Moscow area.
