MODEL ESTIMATES OF THERMAL CONDITIONS IN A FOREST CANOPY

Local climatic characteristics are described using a horizontally inhomogeneous atmospheric boundary-layer hydrodynamic model and a parametric boundary-layer model. The model calculations are tested and a choice of external parameters is made on the basis of data of the Valdai Branch of the State Hydrological Institute, which reflect a specific structure of the boundary layer within and above a forest canopy. A satisfactory performance of the models in reproducing current climatic characteristics and in estimating a local response to global warming is demonstrated.
