HARMONIC ANALYSIS OF LONG-PERIOD TIDES BASED ON STANDARD OBSERVATIONS AND MEAN DAILY VALUES OF SEA LEVEL

G. N. Voinov

Harmonic analysis of long-period tides from standard observations of sea level with a 6-hour discreteness is shown to be complicated by a masking effect of some tide frequencies. To eliminate this in analyzing standard observational data a nonrecursive low-pass filter is suggested. Masking frequencies from waves of various types of tides involving difficulties in the interpretation of analysis of these data are shown. A technique for mean daily data processing is developed, which makes it possible to use different-time datasets of observations in harmonic analysis of long-period tides.
