ICE ARCHIVES AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF ICE CONCENTRATION IN THE NORTH OF THE SEA OF JAPAN

V. V. Plotnikov and S. P. Podtelezhnikova

Possibilities of formation of complete archives of ice information are discussed. The efficiency of recovery of missed values based on the use of multipurpose optimization algorithms is studied. The algorithms are based on the principle of conservation of the statistical structure of a field under consideration. Various conformity criteria are used in the computational model. By the example of creation of a complete archive of ice information for the Sea of Japan it is shown that the minimax criterion gives more realistic results due to better conservation of extremums. For typical ten-day periods of the ice season, areas of cophasal and antiphase variability of ice concentration are identified. Their comparative estimates and a contribution to the total variability of ice conditions of the sea are given for different periods. Spectral analysis of the coefficients of expansion of the ice concentration fields in empirical orthogonal functions assumes the existence of 11—12-, 6—7-, and 2—3-year quasi-periodic components in the long-term evolution of ice conditions of the Sea of Japan.
