EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND PERMAFROST DEGRADATION ON INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE NORTHERN REGIONS OF RUSSIA

O. A. Anisimov and M. A. Belolutskaya

Climate change in the northern regions of Russia will cause permafrost degradation and reduction of the bearing capacity of the frozen ground. A predictive model is used to evaluate the potential threats to engineering infrastructure in permafrost regions due to destructive cryogenic processes caused by climate change. Model results and predictive maps of geocryological environmental hazards are discussed.
