STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OF WATER INFLOW VARIATIONS ON THE DYNAMICS OF WATER BALANCE ELEMENTS, LEVEL, AND AREA OF THE CASPIAN SEA

A mathematical model is developed that describes the dynamics of the area, level, and evaporation from the Caspian Sea and the outflow to the Bay of Kara-Bogaz Gol with variations of the water inflow. A time lag of the characteristics of the sea with respect to the inflow and ratios of their amplitudes are calculated depending on the period of variations. The observed series of the sea level and water inflow are approximated by periodic functions. The time lag of the extremes of the curves approximating the level and inflow and the ratio of their amplitudes are compared with results obtained from the model.
