THE CAUSES AND MECHANISM OF FORMATION OF A COLD-WATER SPOT OVER THE KASHEVAROV BANK

The formation of cold-water spots over the Kashevarov bank is studied on the basis of oceanographic surveys and satellite IR images. It is shown that the main cause of these spots is the tidal water mixing due to a large vertical velocity gradient of tidal streams.
