HYDROLOGICAL CONDITIONS IN THE COMANDER—KAMCHATKA REGION

V. V. Moroz

On the basis of the mean long-term hydrological data file and data from expeditions carried out by the Pacific Oceanological Institute in the Comander—Kamchatka region in 1989—1991, the thermohaline structure of waters in different seasons is studied taking into account a source region and circulation. Seasonal features of the water mass patterns are shown and characteristic indices are determined. The geostrophic water circulation is described. The variability of seasonal circulation to a large extent determines the character of the water mass pattern.
