THE INFLUENCE OF THE ASIAN—PACIFIC CENTERS OF ACTION OF THE ATMOSPHERE ON TOTAL OZONE VARIABILITY

A. F. Nerushev and E. K. Kramchaninova

A relationship between variations of parameters of the centers of action of the atmosphere (Honolulu and Siberian highs, Aleutian and Asian lows) and total ozone (TO) variability is analyzed. The analysis is based on TOMS ozone data, parameters of the centers of action of the atmosphere (CAA), and temperature fields. The areas of influence of the centers of action on the ozone layer are estimated. Quantitative characteristics of the relationship between interannual variations in the CAA parameters and the TO field are studied and the main parameters are found. A significant change in the CAA parameters over the last 36 years and its connection with changes in the temperature regime of the Earth's climate system are noted.
