SIMULATION OF SNOW STRUCTURE AND HEAT CONDUCTION

A geometrical simulation of snow structure is suggested based on the synthesis of Voigt and Reiss models for stratified structures. An expression for heat conduction of snow cover is obtained, which given a specified snow density allows one to determine heat fluxes through ice and air, estimate the effect of water vapor diffusion through snow pores, and to obtain double-ended estimates of heat and snow cover.
