MODELING THE POLLUTION TRANSPORT IN THE FREE ATMOSPHERE WITH A QUASI-3D MODEL

K. G. Shvarts and V. A. Shklyaev

A quasi-3D model is considered that describes the pollution transport and diffusion in the free atmosphere. The model was obtained with the help of three-dimensional equations of hydrothermodynamics of the atmosphere and pollution transport averaged across the layer. A precise solution of the initial three-dimensional problem was used for the case of a linear relation between the temperature and geopotential at the layer boundaries to close the system. The model is asymptotically valid for a long-wave approximation. The effect of advection on the pollution transport is shown. A correspondence between calculated and background concentrations is noted.
